Built in 1907, and modernized in 2006 we are on the New Mexico State of Cultural Destinations because it was the home of Elliott Barker, iconic Outdoorsman, environmentalist, author, photographer, and First Commissioner of New Mexico’s Department of Fish and Game.
In 2007 we opened the first Gallery of Rock & Roll photography in the Southwest. We repositioned the house as a Vacation Rental in 2010. In 2015 we rented the house long term. The house will be available for lease September 15, 2016.
Gallery LouLou is one and a half blocks to the downtown Plaza, across the street from La Posada Resort and Spa, and a few blocks from Canyon Road. In spring, summer, and fall I walked everywhere. De Vargas Mall is a mile away, for groceries, movies, and shopping.
The house is sandwiched between two outdoor living porches and a private walled garden. In the summer roses bloom in front, and in the back, lilac, sage, and lavender. I loved to Lounge on the back porch at dusk, with ribbons of pink and gold streaking the sky, throw a steak or salmon on the outdoor grill, and listen to the music, sometimes it drifts over from the Plaza outdoor concerts.
